Thanks to everyone for the encouragement last week. I'm really happy I did this. The day certainly wasn't ideal, but I did it! Onto the race report:
Pre-race:
Wake up early, step outside, damn it's humid.
I drove to the start, walked around, and instantly because very self-conscious about my size. It was strange since I'm normally not like that. Not sure if it was the tank top or the stares or what. Anyway, I spotted Razz who was nice enough to pre-race babble with me about how we were about to run through soup. Did I mention it was humid?
Race:
The first mile was weeeeeeee! I was flying! (Relatively, at least.) I forget how hilly my normal route is, so anything flat is a treat. It helped quite a bit that I lined up toward the back too. All that passing sure does build the confidence.
The second mile was equally weeeee with the stares bothering me less and less as I got into a rhythm. Then, about mile 2.75... the sun came out. Now it was humid AND sunny AND h-o-t. Wow, talk about miserable.
I didn't really intend on kicking it at all, but mile 3 was much less comfortable than I planned. I stopped completely at the water station and took about a half dozen little cups of everything they had. A few people got heat stroke that day, and I wasn't about to be one of them. After cooling down, I cruised in and happily crossed the finish line with all three of us.
Mile 1: 8:52
Mile 2: 9:00
Mile 3.1: 10:48
Time: 28:40 (9:14/mile)
Women: 28/223
AG: 7/49
Post-race:
Post-race:
Water, water, water; shade, shade, shade. Much better. I spotted Kelly from Beginning Running and made her pose with me for a nasty, sweaty, picture while chatting about the race. Isn't she adorable? We spotted each other very easily, clearly.
(Please disregard the horribly unflattering shorts. It's all that fits these days.)
That was also the "Unremarkably Pregnant" view from the front. Are you ready for the "Whoa!Shit! Pregnant" view from the side?
Look at that poor little number hanging on for dear life! I should have put my chip on that. The tummy easily finished a second or two before the rest of me. That should totally count.Anyway, the rest of the day was filled with baby stuff, relaxing, and other weekend things. I did have lunch with my mom, and just for posterity sake, here's what I looked like later that day at 7 months. Since I generally only see myself from the front, this is how I look up in my head. That Whoa!Shit! view from the side is shocking to me too, don't worry.
I think they took some course/finish pics, so I'll post those and my run-down of favorite comments heard while racing pregnant with twins later this week.

Kicking fast time while running for three! Great job.
I also ran in the soup Sunday, just a few hundred miles southeast of you. If I tied two midgets on my back, I'd be slower than normal also!
Great job!
I am beyond impressed. I could never even dream about running pregnant but that is for obvious reasons :) Anyway, nice pace for running for three!
I think you would have beaten me and you are super preggo with twins. I think that right there should motivate me to pick up the speed this summer. ;o)
You are awesome and you look great!
You are sooo fast!!! Way to go on the race! You look so great pregnant :)
That is super impressive! Way to go!!!
Congrats that is amazing and a fast finish when racing with twins in that heat. It was a brutal brutal day for a half! I looked for you there but somehow missed you.
Congrats on a great race! You look super. You don't even look pregnant until you turn to the side. Keep up the great work!
Know how many comments I heard about the Pregnant Chick running? More than 1. :) Nice job!
You look amazing! Great race report and photos!
Just think about what all those people you passed/beat felt like..."I just got chicked by a pregnant woman!"
That is awesome that you are still running!
Our local paper has photos and happened to see yours!

Way to go, powerful mama! That's so awesome. You were smart to stop and drink -- no sense putting your body and your babes at risk.
Really great job!
Oh my ADORABLE!! I think you look amazing, especially with 2 little ones in there. And ROCKIN time lady.. Now RELAX would you??
Oh man, I freaking LOVE that you did this race! You totally have me motivated to run until I go into labor. Seriously! And look at how fast you are! WOW! Totally love it! Great job!
You look great! Congrats on the 5K for 3!
Congrats on an awesome race time! Man you run the same speed with twins that I run normally lol!
Nice work! And I like the outfit you ultimately went with - way better than the too-big race shirts :)
I am so impressed by your time while preggo - way to go! And your race bib dangling off the belly is just priceless. :)
NICE job!!! thats a speedy 5k esp considering you are racing for THREE!
and seriously - you are adorable :)
Okay my jaw dropped to the floor when I saw your mile split times! You were cruising!!! I am so beyond impressed! Way to go, the number hanging on for dear life is my favorite : ) I may print that picture out and put it on my wall of inspiration!
Do you have the stretchy waist jeans? Those look super comfy! Great job on the 5k race! You did great and you look super cute pregnant! I love it! You have to be the cutest pregnant woman i have ever seen!
Nice job but, I have to ask, is it considered cheating to run with three hearts? How would the world react if Lance was discovered to have two additional hearts? I think we both know.
Cheater.
V v v cute!!!! Nice job on the run!
You are simply amazing!!! Nice job at the race. Glad you are feeling good. Cute pictures.
Great job on the race! You even got 7/49 and you carried TWO MORE PEOPLE! Impressive!
The humidity sounds nasty. Can't wait to hear the comments you got! People are so weird sometimes. (Ok, a lot.)
Well this is just great, you're pregnant with dos ninos and you're STILL faster than me! Excellent job!
you
are
my
hero.
amazing.
Nevermind the shorts, you look fantastic! Great run out there, all three of you!
You kicked some pregnant woman butt! You are by far the fastest thing with twins on two feet.
Lady, you are fast! I'd be just fine with that time and I'm not pregnant WITH TWINS. And you look fantastic!!
Dude, that is awesome. I can't even run that fast and I'm NOT pregnant!
wow...you are awesome!! Great job!
I think you're SO awesome for not only RUNNING while pregnant, but racing! Good for you!!! I hope that I can still run when I am pregnant (one day, in the far, far, far future!)
Ok YOU totally win the prize for cutest pregnant woman EVER! How is it possible that you are pregnant with twins and don't look fat AT ALL??? Amazing!! :) Congrats on the running too. You make it look so easy. Glad things are going so smoothly for you. :)
it's true, the front picture you barely look pregnant! that is an amazing time for being that pregnant, with twins, in hot, humid weather. aww, makes me want to be pregnant again! can't wait to hear the comments you heard...
You look absolutely amazing! And nice job on the race...
Your preggers 5K time was better than my PR on a 5K last weekend! Give yourself MAJOR props. Love the blog!
You look terrific, congrats on your 5K! Supa fast for three!
Oh my gosh seriously you are awesome!! Keep it up girl I'm so impressed! And you look great!
What sucks is that you beat my very first 5k time. um, I was NOT pregnant by the way!
Great job lady. Your gonna have some speedy little kiddos.
You three are speedy in soup! Congrats on a great race - all while looking adorable while you kicked booty!
YEA! Way to totally rock it! Your belly is so super cute! I'm totally impressed! The farthest I ran when I was pregnant was to the freezer for MORE ice cream:)
I HONESTLY can't wait until the posts about the comments. Hopefully one of them was something about getting their ass kicked by the preggers girl
I don't know whether I want to hug you or hate you. You are amazing for running a race bearing twins let alone in the heat. But I hate you because you beat my 5K PR and I'm not gestating a child.
Should I weep or laugh? Probably both...
Congrats on your race, XC4. I really really would like to hear what some of your competitors were thinking as you mosied by them. It's like "Woah, i just got preggo'd"
Haha! Congrats on being amazing =)
Great job! You would have beat me and I would have felt silly! lol! Nice job on not pushing yourself to a danger point, save that for post-baby! :)
you look so cute and i'm glad you posted the side view b/c i was going to leave a comment saying you didn't look pregnant from the front! so impressed with that time, you did pregnant! some people never see such a great 5k time!
You are so gorgeously pregnant!! You look awesome!! And way to kick 5k butt! I'd be happy with kind of time and I'm so not preggy. Well done and Congratulations!!!
congrats! i'm glad you went and enjoyed it. i can't wait to hear the comments that were made...
sad the pictures won't load at work, this internet really sucks when it comes to my blog reading! ;)
you are so adorable. Congrats on going so fast, that's nuts! It's so funny how from the front you can't even tell. I can't wait to hear some comments, I feel like I am oblivious to them and pretend I'm not pregnant when I'm doing a race preggers!
Wow. I bet all those people that got smoked by the pregnant chick are feeling a bit down about their running right now. I'm guessing Razz would have been one of them if he was doing the same distance. Nicely done.
daaaaammMMMmmnnn girlfrrriiiend :) you are looking GOOD! and those are BALLER shorts :) aka basketballller :) i think i have a pair just like them... and i'm not pregnant... hehe.
CONGRATS on your race!!! love teh WHEEEEeee! feeling lol. you did such a great job! for three! :)
CONGRATS super racing mommy to be! I think you look adorable wit your bib number on your bump!
Race number on giant baby belly? Awesome! Your boys are going to grow up knowing they have one cool mommy.
You are tooooooo cute! What a great pace! Some peeps never even dream of running that pace, and you did it prego with twins!
Great recap!!!! You look awesome :)
i couldnt even tell you were preg until you turned to the side! you are So cute and look so adorable out there running! like 4 girls are/were prego the same time at work and all their prego bellys make me want to have a baby! one is 2 days past due waiting anxiously any minute for the baby! eeee!!!
WHOA!!!!! I am SO proud of you, you hot mama! And yes, you look hot! You are my hero!!! Don't read my post...I'm embarrassed now:( lol!! NICE!
Go mama! I just tagged you with a Versatile Blogger award on my blog. Check it out at: averagewomanrunner.blogspot.com
I L.O.V.E that you raced pregnant. With twins. In Council Bluffs. In humidity. In Council Bluffs (did I already say that? Well, that's equally as big as the pregnancy thing, IMO).
And it totally looks like you are strapping on a Nicole Kidman felly (faux belly) in between the front and side-view photos. (I know you know what I mean.) You are awesome!!
You know, I know some folks that would be THRILLED with your race time even when NOT pregnant!!
And I think they ought to have a preggo division, make that a preggo with twins division. You would've won 1st place for sure!
Just so you know, the next time my pregnant wife asks me to go to the store for her, I'm showing her this post. :) GREAT JOB.
LOL! Your WHOASHITPREGNANT pic really is WHOASHIT! You look so cute preggo, especially in mango ;)
I kind of wish you would've created two mini bibs with A and B after your number. Prob would've been taking it tooooo faaaar but that's my MO.
Congrats on the race you three!! :)
Turns out you are now famous in CB. You made the front page of our local paper yesterday along with a small caption about you racing while seven months pregnant with twin boys. Email me if you want a copy and I'll send it to you.
You look great!!! Congrats, I'm in awe, seriously!
It's funny. You're a month further along than me and carrying twins, and looking at those pics I'd swear our bellies were close to the same size. I was so convinced I was going to go the doctor's this week and be measuring way larger than I should be. I didn't. But this baby belly is HUGE! Anyway, great job! I'll be running a 5K at my work this Wednesday. It should be fun!
OMG I bet people who you were passing were like freaking out, I LOVE IT!
You are an adorable (and fit) preggo mama! You'll be super fast when you return post-partum for having done this now.
You're the fastest and cutest pregnant girlie ever! I'm not surprised at all of course, bc you're just so rockstar like that :)
I agree with RunningLaur--definitely the fastest and best looking pregnant lady I have ever seen!
I think you should get your own special award and group for running such a great race!
You did SO great! OMG. This is why it pays to be fast. Because then when you are pregnant and you "slow down" you are still speedy! I will have no such luck.
All those stares are because you are AWESOME!!
