Well, I love stuff regardless of how fancy. This jacket just happens to be functional AND fashionable. It arrived in the mail... and was 90-100 degrees for the next week. Not exactly jacket weather. Thankfully, my mom and I went to visit my sister in New York this weekend where a jacket was perfect. Here's me being a goober in my fancy new jacket:
It was finally chilly this morning, so I threw it on and went for a quick run. Here's me being a goober in my own kitchen:
Pros:
- It's a beautiful blue color. I find myself drawn to light blue, and this "Oxide Blue" is stunning.
- There's a bunch of pockets. One can never have too many pockets.
- Wrinkle-proof. I shoved it in a ball in my suitcase, and it came out looking great.
- Plenty long. I hate when the arms and length are too short. I ordered a small.
- Armpit zippers. Not that I used these while walking around NYC, but they entertained me, and I could see myself using them as I wear it working out.
- It's warm without being hot. Very breathable.
- It's perfectly waterproof. We were on misty boats and in the clouds at the top of the Empire State Building, and I was happily dry without feeling like I was wearing 100 lbs of coat.
- It's noisy. The material is a little crinkly. You can't exactly curl up with it like a cozy sweatshirt because every time you move, you hear yourself.
- The hood isn't very deep. I had a ponytail, and I couldn't Kenny-from-South-Park my hood around my face like I wanted when it started raining.
- The price. The Columbia Sportwear website lists it at $350. (Although it's less expensive on sites like REI.) I probably wouldn't spend that kind of money on a jacket. Or anything else for that matter. Diapers and daycare ain't cheap.
