Don't rehydrate with champagne...

... or you'll wake up with a purse full of this the next morning:
(I'm giving Runner's Lounge a run for their money with my helpful tips, aren't I?)

My original plan for New Year's Eve was to work until noon, go for a 12 mile run, maybe nap, and take my time getting ready to go out. Well, I got busy at work, and only had time for an 8 mile run and rushed preparation. The backup plan became water at the pre-party and drinks when we got to the bowling alley. (I was planning to channel Jess at 21 Days for some drunken bowling inspiration.)

It seemed logical enough since I don't drink beer or wine, and I knew that's all my friend would have at her house. Logical right up until I was greeted at the door with a tall glass of champagne! (How awesome are my friends.) My water bottle was barely touched, because come on, we all know how yummy champagne tastes out of a fancy glass.

The rest of the night was filled with drunken bowling, rowdy pictures, and far too many buckets of beer for the boys. Apparently as the night concluded, we had several unopened bottles of Bud Light which were pin-shaped and far too cute to leave behind. Three bottles down my pants, two in my coat pockets, and two in my purse was my attempt at thanking the husband for staying responsible and driving me home. I'm told I was very covert with trying to sneak them out.

New Year's Day was full of football and the hydration that should have been. I finally left the house around 3 to get in the 10 miles I'd hoped to do the day before. The weather was sunny, calm, warm(ish), and the perfect way to start 2009. I'm not sure 18 miles in two days off-sets the amount of vodka and champagne I drank, but New Year's only comes once a year.
Happy 2009!

WOW!!! first of all great runs! that's awesome an 8 and then a 10! and HILARIOUS about the champagne, too bad you weren't caught on camera, hopefully you were TOO covert for that ;) heheeh... i am also a huge fan of champagne and i'm really not a big drinker, either :) HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

I don't know how to tell you this, so I'll just blurt it out:

Champagne is wine!!1! And you drank it!

What do you think of those "friends" now? Hmmm?

I myself like them more and more.

Way to ring in the new year, sister!

Watch your back though. I hear Runners Lounge foax don't like it when others try to horn in on their territory. You may've noticed that Marcy has been missing in action lately?

That's right. The Runners Lounge foax got to her and "screwed her sneakers" real good! So ... word to the wise.

Happy New Year!!

At the risk of sounding snobbish, I must say I have never had champagne from a bowling pin shaped bottle. But if it was good enough for you to sneak out more bottles, I must be missing out.

I knew from the post title that this was going to be interesting.

Thinking of what you must have looked like trying to sneak out bowling pin shaped bottles in your clothes....LOL

Glad you had so much fun! And when you're drunk, and sneaking shit out of someplace, you're practically invisible! No one could possibly match your deftness, I'm sure!

Can't you imagine that this is the first time I skipped the celebration and didn't even sip champagne? I am absolutely crazy about champagne. I am now questioning whether the champagne bottle I have will be good for next year???

Glad you drank it !! That is quite hilarious.

Happy New Year !!

Hilarious! Sounds like something I'd have done in my wilder days. OK, I'd probably still do it now if the kids aren't around.

WTG on 18 miles. That's twice what I did in the last two days LOL.

I don't even drink, but those bottles are so cute, that I probably would have horked a couple, too. Seriously, though, how does someone as skinny as you have room to fit extra bottles in her pants? LOL!

Great job on the pre- and post-func runs.
